The most famous Irish malt and the quality shows why. A malty palate with a fruity sweetness redolent of apples and bananas with hints of sherry moving to a bitter toffee finish. Made using unpeated barley so as to avoid any smokiness. The spirit is triple distilled making it more refined, smoother and lighter than double distilled whiskies. Ageing in old Bourbon casks for at least 10 years gave extra richness. The whiskey was diluted to 40% abv before being bottled.
